Solar Energy: a new tool in your businesses’ toolbox.
Roofer-friendly
The DOW POWERHOUSE™ Solar Shingle was designed with the roofer in mind, which is why it’s a roofing product that installs directly on the roof deck using the same processes and crews needed for an asphalt roof installation.
All it takes is a properly trained roofing professional. Unlike conventional solar products, the POWERHOUSE Solar Shingle is the first product to eliminate on-roof wiring, so crews don’t have to worry about any cords or exposed wires.
Plus, Dow will train a limited number of authorized installers. This authorization can give you a strong competitive advantage in the current marketplace.
Through collaborations with home builders and other certified professionals, the DOW POWERHOUSE Solar Shingle will be rolled out in targeted markets of the United States.
Specific collaborations will be announced later this year.
Seamless
The POWERHOUSE™ Solar Shingle lays flat on the roofdeck and integrates into almost any asphalt roof design. Plus, it’s UL- certified as a roofing product, making it durable to last for the intended life of the roof.
Since 85% of American homes have asphalt roofs, the potential market for this technology is significant.
Appreciate
The DOW POWERHOUSE Solar Shingle turns a depreciating asset – the roof – into a revenue generating one. Homeowners will see immediate savings as soon as the shingles are installed.
POWERHOUSE Solar Shingles are a solar solution that can be installed on US homes that use asphalt roofing materials. Homebuilders and roofers have an opportunity to become energy experts and start looking at solar as an attractive solution for these homeowners.
Tested and Retested
The UL process included 50 tests conducted to assess the safety of the Solar Shingle against building code standards and electrical code requirements.
It is the first residential roofing shingle with an integrated connection to receive Underwriters Laboratories (UL) safety certification.
Plus, it’s backed by Dow. For more than 114 years, we’ve been leading the charge in developing new technologies.
Our ongoing commitment to quality means we’ll continue with reliable testing. It’s our way of ensuing POWERHOUSE Solar Shingles will perform at the standard you’ve come to expect from Dow.
Details of the POWERHOUSE Solar Shingles technical specifications will be available in late 2011.
Pricing and Availability
To achieve an acceptable integrated aesthetic, the homeowner does not need to spend money upgrading from asphalt shingles to a premium roof material such as clay or concrete tiles, making the POWERHOUSE Solar Shingles far more affordable than previous integrated rooftop solar products.
For specifics on what solar energy will cost any homeowner, consider specifics such as a home’s size, the orientation of the roof, the weather, the homeowner’s energy offset goals, local utility rates and available renewable energy programs.
Pricing will be available late 2011 in select U.S markets.
